Small Change Makes a Big Difference
Athens, Greece – (28 March, 2013) – Guests staying at Hilton Athens have helped to make a big difference to disadvantaged children and young people by raising €2,916.74 in Hilton in the Community Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign.
“Small Change, Big Difference”, a campaign, ran in Greece along with 144 other Hilton hotels in 21 countries across Europe, from October to December 2012. The campaign as a whole has raised a massive total of over €177,500, which will make a huge difference to the lives of young people.
The campaign invites guests staying at Hilton Worldwide hotels to add an optional €1 onto their room bill during their stay. Since its inception in 2004, the campaign has already raised over €1.33 million for children’s charities.
Bart van de Winkel, General Manager of Hilton Athens, said, “I would like to express my gratitude to our generous guests for their support. This is a fantastic campaign to be involved in. The small change from our guests really does make a positive difference to local children. Throughout the year we run a number of exciting initiatives through our charity, Hilton in the Community Foundation, and Small Change Big Difference has been proven to be an effective fundraiser”
The funds raised have been donated to help the work of The Smile of the Child, which is raising funds towards its teaching staff costs of its new educational centre in Aegion.
Thanks to voluntary fundraising by team members, Hilton in the Community Foundation has supported children in Greece since 2009 with grants to a number of charities including ELEPAP, Mazi gia to Paidi (Together for Children) and FLOGA (Parents Association of Children with Cancer).
